Amita is a Clinical psychologist from the United Kingdom.  She has over 28 years of experience working as a clinical psychologist with clients across the lifespan, from children, adolescents, adults, and families. Prior to moving to Melbourne, Amita has worked as a clinical psychologist in the UK and Singapore. She has worked within National Health Services (NHS) in UK, in KK Hospital for Women and Children in Singapore and in private practice.

A thorough grounding in clinical, developmental/dynamic models and systems theory helps Amita to understand the bio-psycho-social framework of formulating the psychological difficulties of her clients. She is trained in Cognitive-behaviour therapy well as Systemic & Attachment frameworks of formulation and therapy in various clinical conditions.

 

Amita is a trained level 3 Gottman Couples therapist.

Amita has extensive experience of diagnostic assessments, such as Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), ADHD, Intellectual/ cognitive Assessments, Mental Health & Personality Assessments. She is trained in ADOS-2 which is the Gold Standard for the diagnostic assessment of ASD.

 

Amita’s primary career interest is in the area of child & adolescent mental health and she can offer support and advice to parents, using various parenting training approaches, such as Positive Parenting and Parents Plus.
