Kristy Mellor

Kristy is a dedicated and compassionate social worker with a commitment to fostering positive change in individuals and communities.
Kristy graduated from Leeds Metropolitan University in 2000 (BA Hons Applied Social Work) spending 11 years in the UK working within the disability, residential care and children and family sectors. Upon returning to Australia, Kristy has worked within the field of disability and mental health, with a specific interest in counselling for young people and their families.
When not at Hume Psychology Kristy works with VACCA (Victorian Aboriginal Child Care Agency) providing therapeutic support and reflective practice to residential care workers looking after indigenous young people in care.
Kristy works with young people aged 12-25 and their families. Kristy brings a genuine warmth and respect for young people helping them feel safe, comfortable and relaxed in sessions. She uses a variety of mediums including play activities, therapeutic worksheets and journalling methods to provide connection and self-reflection opportunities.
Kristy provides support to young people by empowering, advocating and providing guidance through difficult situations. She works with families by creating an open and respectful environment, providing information and resources relating to age and stage development and fostering collaborative family relationships.
In her personal space Kristy can be found spending time with family and friends, having coffee, going to the gym, hiking or coaching the local soccer team.
